About OSM
The office of Strategy Management (OSM) has been established to provide Botswana Examinations Council (BEC) with focused capability to manage and govern BEC Strategy Formulation and execution services. The office is an instrumental tool in supporting an effective and efficient implementation of the Organisation's Strategy.
OSM Mandate
OSM reports to the Excutive Secretary and is the custodian for Strategy Management that entails:
- Strategy formulation, implementation and benefit realisation
- Strategy delivery through project management practices and
- Effective organisational change management in support of strategy realisation.
How will OSM Benefit BEC
The establishment of the OSM will bring the following benefits to BEC:
- Improved strategy execution
- Improved communication about the strategy
- Better planning and prioritisation of the project portfolio in line with strategic intent
- Increase in strategy risk management,change management and conflict resolution
- Increase in cross-functional teaming and communication of BEC strategic and operational goals, objective and standards of excellence
- Increase in management information in terms of schedules, cost, deliverables and resource conflict
- Greater return on investment due to more accurate estimation in terms of cost,deliverables, schedules and human resources
- Greater degree of strategy and project visibility and a central repository of strategy and projects information
- Increase in strategy and project ownership, accountability, responsibility and involvement
- Increase in strategy and project execution discipline as a culture
